Project Objective
Wendel Duchscherer was retained to provide complete design services to Cattaraugus County
for a new 50,000 sq. ft. Department of Public Works facility. This building consolidated several County departments, including the Commissioner, the Finance Department, the County Engineering Division, and Fleet Operations and Maintenance. Each department had its own specific requirements for equipment and mechanical and electrical considerations, as well as differing architectural criteria.

Solution
In addition architectural and engineering services, Wendel Duchscherer also performed landscape architecture expertise and survey services.  Included in this project was the extensive site development necessary to convert 30 acres of virgin land into a working piece of property that could accommodate a variety of vehicle types and storage yards.

Wendel Duchscherer performed life-cycle evaluations as part of the design considerations for the materials and systems to assist the County in weighing initial costs versus the longevity of components to determine the best “value” for function.
