Wendel is a nationally recognized innovative Architecture, Engineering, Energy Efficiency, and Construction Management firm that collaborates with public entities to design public safety facilities through our Five Bugles Design (FBD) and Mitchell Associates Architects (MAA) design groups.  We are national leaders in the design of public safety facilities, having completed over 400 projects, teaching station design at national conferences, being published in fire service magazines, and receiving numerous design awards.

With the merger of FBD and MAA, our design team offers the opportunity to work on an exciting project type in a collaborative team approach with others who are truly committed to the needs of our clients. If you are looking to make a real impact and have 5 to 8+ year experience in public safety design, then this position is for you!

Wendel is headquartered in Buffalo, NY, but we are looking for someone in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, or New York. The ideal candidate is looking for advancement in their career and an opportunity to grow our established presence throughout the country.

Responsibilities

  • Our public safety design team is looking for a mid to senior level design professional that thrives in a fast paced and team focused working environment to grow our established presence throughout the country.

 

Qualifications

  • Love to execute project development from concept through construction while working with other committed design professionals.
  • Are seeking to mentor entry level architects, directing them in design, production and overall coordination of the design process and technical documents.
  • Attend project and client meetings with other design professionals for projects under contract.
  • Want to grow into a senior leadership role.
  • Have a proven record of strong technical design and detailing skills.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and ADA requirements.
  • Are self-motivated and able to problem solve independently, often times working remotely.
  • Have a 4- or 5-year degree in Architecture, or a related field.
  • Have 10 -15 years of working experience in a design firm with strong design, construction document and construction administration experience, plus 5 to 8+ year’s experience in Fire and/or Police stations.
  • Are genuinely passionate about architecture.
  • Have exceptional communication and organizational skills and you thrive at working in a team environment.
  • Have knowledge of design and construction programs like Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, Etc.

Salary range

$110,000 – $140,000

Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
