The Jicarilla Apache Tribe was looking for a fast-track, guaranteed maximum price (GMP), design-build solution to plan, design and construct a 15,000 square foot new Travel Plaza. Wendel Construction, along with our Native American Construction Management partner Kennedy Wendel, provided a design-build solution that includes a casino with approximately 140 gaming positions, a convenience store, deli, trucker’s lounge, administrative and back-of-house areas, a single-bay self-serve car wash facility, gasoline fueling islands for automobiles, diesel fueling islands for tractor-trailer trucks and RV’s, paved parking for 60 automobiles and gravel parking for 25 tractor-trailer trucks and 10 RV’s.

A stepped design approach was used to work with the client to develop a building and site program for the project. Wendel also developed and managed a fully transparent, open-book CMP project budget for the client.
