Gates Circle Redevelopment Plan

Mixed-Use Urban Development & Focal Streetscape

For many years, Millard Fillmore Hospital commanded the view of historic Olmsted-designed Gates Circle. After relocating to a new facility, the hospital structure was demolished and a new urban mixed-use development is underway. The Wendel team provided master planning and site design services for this multi-acre site. Other services included architecture, surface transportation, survey, and landscape architecture. The team designed access roads; traffic calming mechanisms; utility placement; grading; stormwater, water, and sanitary services to support the multiple buildings that will occupy this site. Early development has included a new iconic multi-story building facing the circle that includes 53 senior living apartments owned and operated by Canterbury Woods. Additional residential, grocery, office, health and wellness and services are also planned.
