Residence Hall Design
Architecture and engineering services were provided for Medaille College’s new 36,000 square foot, three-story residence hall. The building contains a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and is located on Medaille’s small, quaint campus in urban Buffalo, New York. The hall’s architectural character is drawn from surrounding historic masonry campus predecessors. The transition from orthogonal dormitory wings to the common areas and student lounge is denoted by a burst of diverse geometry that clearly separates the two sections. The student lounge itself boasts a kitchen style snack bar, dining area, laundry facilities, public restrooms and a fully networked computer lab. The common areas are flooded with natural light from sunrise to sunset, making it an excellent central gathering place for student activities.
