North American Hoganas

North American Hoganas (NAH) was experiencing a tremendous up surge in its powered metal market and required the installation of a new furnace line to meet the demand. NAH came to Wendel proposing a traditional Design/Bid/Build project delivery for the furnace installation; however, that delivery method was going to take longer than NAH was comfortable with. The design was complicated and needed to be completed in seven months or less. To help NAH get their product to market more quickly, Wendel proposed utilizing a fast-track, design-build delivery approach.

Wendel’s design-build method involved bringing in selected specialty contractors during the design process to accelerate the construction schedule, confirm constructability and increase cost certainty. The owner, design team and contractors sat side by side to develop, plan and implement the successful project.
