Building Inspection GIS Solution

The Town of Hamburg was struggling with a complicated and inefficient building inspection and code enforcement database. Wendel proposed a solution in the form of a web-based, “GIS Centric” Building Inspection interface that helps manage and track the workflow of building permit related information. From application submission to issuance of the certificate of occupancy, the GIS interface provides users with a visual representation of current building inspections throughout the town. Adding a new building permit, approving building plans, producing a receipt of fees paid, attaching inspection photos and printing a certificate of occupancy can now all be done with a click of the mouse. Wendel hosts and maintains the application on its own GIS server with full redundancy to guarantee uptime, allowing the town to focus on using the application, not maintaining it. Staff can now access and update their building inspection and code enforcement records from the field and the office, yielding more efficiency in their day-to-day operations.
