We are pleased to announce that Richard “Rick” Hanley has joined the Wendel team. Rick comes to Wendel with over 35 years of experience working with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) where he was the transit bus electrification program manager at the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation. Rick recently retired from his position with the CTDOT and will now be working out of Wendel’s Connecticut office.

Rick previously worked with the Wendel team on the CTtransit battery electric bus projects serving the New Haven, Stamford, Hartford, and Waterbury operating regions. Rick was involved with all phases of bus electrification, including development of bus and charger specifications, facility electrification studies, grant application writing, system technical reviews, and electric utility engagement. He also served on the technical committee for Connecticut’s first electric bus Lo-No project at the Greater Bridgeport Transit Agency. Rick completed his state service with the announcement that Connecticut’s entire public transit bus fleet would be electrified by 2035. He also received a State of Connecticut Innovation Award recognizing exceptional public sector sustainability innovations for his work to spearhead transportation electrification beginning with the state travel service plazas EV chargers in 2011.

Rick will continue his work on fleet electrification after joining Wendel. While his primary focus will be in the Northeast, Rick will work on projects nationally. He is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Connecticut.

I’ve been working with Rick for the last five years and am really looking forward to working with him as a fellow member of the Wendel team.” – John Havrilla, Director of Alternative Fuels and Senior Associate Principal.
