Wendel is seeking a Senior Commissioning Agent to play a pivotal role in project execution, management, and business development. This position involves overseeing projects, developing commissioning plans, leading field activities, supporting proposal efforts, and mentoring junior staff. The role is available in any of our office locations or as a fully remote opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Be the Commissioning Authority and lead commissioning efforts for new construction and existing building projects, including data center and mission critical facilities
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, specifications, and work plans
  • Perform design reviews at multiple stages (basis of design, design development, construction documents)
  • Coordinate and lead commissioning meetings with clients, design teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Review and validate submittals, shop drawings, and sequences of operation
  • Develop and execute pre-functional and functional performance tests for mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Oversee system startup, testing, and balancing activities
  • Lead and support data center commissioning activities across all levels
  • Document and track commissioning issues through resolution
  • Prepare commissioning reports and final documentation deliverables
  • Support LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning requirements, including documentation and coordination with LEED consultants
  • Conduct field verification and site observations to ensure system performance and compliance
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, electrical, controls, and construction management
  • Provide QA/QC review of commissioning deliverables
  • Support construction phase activities, including issue resolution and system troubleshooting
  • Manage project budgets and junior commissioning staff

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in leading commissioning projects, building systems, or related engineering roles
  • Demonstrated experience in commissioning of complex building systems (HVAC, electrical, controls)
  • Proven experience delivering LEED commissioning (Fundamental and Enhanced Cx) is required
  • Experience preparing proposal responses and technical narratives is required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
  • Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA), CCP, or equivalent certification preferred
  • LEED AP preferred
  • Willingness to travel 50%–75% based on project demands

Salary range

$100,000 – $140,000

Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
