AMS Renewable Energy Machias Solar

When AMS Renewable Energy, an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firm specializing in commercial solar projects, acquired a seven-site solar portfolio following municipal approvals, the team turned to Wendel for support. Having previously led the permitting and site development efforts for all seven facilities, Wendel was uniquely positioned to help advance the projects efficiently from design through construction.

The Machias Solar project is a 10-acre distributed generation solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in the Town of Machias, New York. The facility features a 2 MW (DC) nameplate capacity and connects to the Machias Substation, supplying additional renewable energy to the local electric grid.

Wendel provided comprehensive predevelopment services, including feasibility evaluations, surveying, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), SEQR support, site grading and stormwater management design, SWPPP preparation, visual impact analysis, landscape screening plans, driveway permitting coordination, site plan approval documentation, and participation in municipal review meetings.

Following project approvals, Wendel delivered civil construction plans and specifications, assisted the client in securing local building and NYSDEC stormwater permits, and provided construction administration services throughout implementation.

Machias Solar was the first project in the seven-site portfolio to enter construction and was completed in June 2025, meeting the Owner/Operator’s aggressive schedule. The facility has since been energized and is now delivering renewable energy to the community.

Through a seamless transition from predevelopment to construction, Wendel helped navigate project complexities, accelerate delivery, and support the successful completion of this important renewable energy asset while strengthening our ongoing partnership with AMS Renewable Energy.
