POSTED 01-15-2025

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 revised the 179D deduction, creating two pathways to compliance. The Department of Energy (DOE) has launched the 179D Portal, making it easier for building owners to estimate federal tax deductions for energy-efficient improvements. This new tool helps evaluate potential deductions through both traditional and alternative compliance pathways for qualifying upgrades, starting in tax year 2023.

You can achieve energy savings and reduce operating costs by incorporating upgrades like better lighting, HVAC, and building envelope systems. The 179D Portal streamlines this process to help you unlock savings of $0.58 to $5.81 per square foot in 2025, with additional deductions for projects meeting prevailing wage and apprenticeship requirements.

We specialize in energy-efficient building solutions that help you meet these criteria and maximize tax savings. Whether you’re retrofitting or building new, our team can guide you through energy upgrades and help you leverage the 179D tax deductions.
