Wendel is currently seeking a Mid Level Environmental Engineer to join our growing Environmental Engineering team. This position offers flexibility in the candidates location and we offer a hybrid work schedule. Our corporate headquarters is in Williamsville, NY but we are open to candidates in NYS.

Responsibilities:

  • Process planning, design, and construction administration of medium to large infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as a technical lead and project manager for medium to large scale design and construction projects including distribution system and collection system improvements as well as water and wastewater treatment plant rehabilitation work.
  • Hydraulic modeling of water treatment and storage systems.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or related fields is required, a Masters Degree is preferred.
  • PE is preferred, but we will consider experience and background.
  • The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of experience in the water discipline, however individuals seeking to leverage a broad portfolio of experience who are interested in becoming focused within the Water market will also be considered.
  • Experience with hydraulics, municipal water and wastewater treatment plant design, and energy usage/analysis.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather at times.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be available to travel to job sites and client meetings. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Salary Range: $75,000 – $120,000.

Wendel is currently seeking a Senior Site/Civil Engineer to work ideally out of our Williamsville, NY office, but we are open to candidates in the Rochester, NY and Syracuse, NY area. In this position, you will work with our planning and site/civil services group, providing support on site plan reviews, planning board activities, general planning services, and SWPPP/site inspections.

We are seeking someone with a strong knowledge of site plan design, project management, entitlements and permitting, proficiency in stormwater and hydraulic calculations, familiarity with State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR), NYSDEC and MS4 stormwater regulations, comprehensive plans, and zoning regulations. Knowledge of solar projects would be a big plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical discipline tasks including research, report preparation, design, and specification/plan preparation to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Assist with business development activities, including meeting with clients.
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating proposal efforts to secure work.
  • Represent the firm in meetings and conferences with regulatory agencies and officials of other organizations.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • PE is a plus.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Self-starter with great communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to make independent engineering decisions to successfully advance the project.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor younger staff.
  • The candidate shall be able to successfully lead projects in a hybrid work environment both in the office or working remotely.

Wendel is looking for a well-versed General Trades/Construction Cost Estimator that can estimate at a high level with great detail to join our New York based construction team. This position will be a key player on the team and assist in the growth and development of our Construction Management practice area.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all general trades and GC cost estimating.
  • Lead the coordination and management of multiple prime sub-contracts.
  • Assist with the administration of construction projects.
  • Be an integral part of taking all general construction estimates from start to finish.

Qualifications:

  • An Associate’s Degree in Construction Technology/ Management, Engineering or Architecture is preferred.
  • 5 – 10 years of experience in General Construction Cost Estimating and Construction Management with multidiscipline buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency and significant experience with General Trades Construction Cost Estimating at the concept level through detailed bid level estimates is required.
  • Use of cost estimating software and the development of detailed quantity take offs and application of historical cost data to prepare estimates is essential experience required.
  • Experience with scheduling software and use of construction management software is a plus.
  • Project management experience is a big plus.
  • Excel in communication and working in a team environment. Have leadership abilities.
  • Have excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Must be willing to travel within NYS 10-20% of the time.
