Education and engagement throughout any project are key to knowledge transfer and shared experiences between professions, generations, and socioeconomic classes. While building management systems, virtual dashboards, and tactile signage support this effort in most projects, K-12 and higher education projects provide prime opportunities to push this further.
At Buffalo Public School #99, Wendel’s landscape architects designed a new educational courtyard with three main activity zones: a perennial garden, an open recreation and education area, and raised garden beds—all of which provide sensory learning opportunities. Through immersive explorations of ecology, botany, and agriculture, this space is intended to cultivate plants, mind growth, and social bonds.
