Wendel assisted a major University client, supporting the Empire AI Beta Phase initiative, a program focused on advancing artificial intelligence through high-performance computing. The project involved installing four Nvidia liquid-cooled AI servers in an active campus data center while maintaining uninterrupted facility operations.

Wendel provided full mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering services to ensure the existing data center could safely and reliably support this new class of high-density equipment. Our team evaluated the current infrastructure, identified required upgrades, and designed improvements to integrate advanced liquid-cooling technology.

Site preparation included detailed mechanical and electrical modifications, load assessments, system routing, and coordinated adjustments to facility support spaces. Throughout this work, Wendel focused on delivering solutions that strengthened the reliability and long-term performance of the data center environment.

As the facility upgrades progressed, Wendel’s project management team provided steady direction and a consistent, hands-on presence, keeping design intent, schedule, and operational needs aligned. Our team worked closely with the Empire AI implementation group, coordinating each mechanical and electrical modification so the data center remained ready for equipment deployment at every step. This collaborative approach supported a smooth server arrival, careful installation, and seamless integration of the new liquid-cooled AI systems into the existing data center infrastructure.
