This project studied several options for the Lawrence Downtown Transfer Center which included renewed traffic pattens, canopied bus boarding, bus shelters, a driver amenity facility as well as bicycle accommodations.  The project focused on the layout and cost analysis of several concept design options for the Transfer Center.

The scope also included design of the new Lawrence Central Station intermodal project including passenger and operator amenities through the adaptive reuse of an existing 7,000 SF prefabricated structure near the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence. The facility was designed to match the local character of the City and KU and includes the construction of an eight-bay bus platform covered with a modern canopy design and space for intercity buses. Other project features include the connection of the project with the city’s bike plan by incorporating a bike storage hub and repair area for campus users. Wendel is providing the design services and construction administration for this fast-paced project.
