The existing McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Competition Pool lighting system consisted of metal halide fixtures which were inefficient and provided poor light levels (approximately 45 foot-candles) within the natatorium. The Ohio State University and ENGIE were looking for a solution that increased the light levels to NCAA broadcast standards while reducing the energy consumption of the facility. Wendel completed the engineering design and construction of an LED lighting replacement project, which resulted in increased lighting levels (exceeding the 125-foot-candle requirement for NCAA broadcasts) while reducing energy consumption of the facility by approximately 600,000 kWh annually.
