Skaneateles Solar Farm is a 30-acre distributed generation solar photovoltaic (PV) facility located at 2825 W Lake Road in Skaneateles, New York. Designed to support the region’s growing demand for renewable energy, the facility will feature a ground-mounted, single-axis tracking system with a nameplate capacity of 4.7 MW and an approximate total DC capacity of 6.3 MW. The project will connect to the Jewett Substation and includes 21 inverters connected to two transformers.

Wendel provided comprehensive predevelopment services to support the project’s advancement from initial planning through municipal approvals. These services included feasibility evaluations, surveying, a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA), SEQR support, grading and stormwater management design, SWPPP preparation, visual analysis and landscape screening plans, state, county, and town driveway permitting, and site plan application support.

Through close coordination with project stakeholders and regulatory agencies, the project successfully progressed through the review and approval process. Site plans have been approved by the Town of Skaneateles, positioning the project for future development and construction.

The Skaneateles Solar Farm reflects the ongoing expansion of distributed renewable energy infrastructure across New York State and demonstrates the value of thoughtful site planning, environmental stewardship, and community engagement in supporting clean energy goals.
