Yahoo! Data Center

Yahoo’s Lockport Data Center serves the eastern region of the United States. Wendel and MLP Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. worked as part of a design/build team to construct a build-out of 17,500 SF of exsisting data center shell space.

The team worked with Yahoo! to provide a fast-track delivery model that would meet an aggressive construction schedule. Wendel provided early equipment selections and staged design packages that allowed construction to commence while design was completed and equipment was being produced. Wendel and MLP worked together to implement the installation of a state-of-the-art data center cooling system. The cooling system utilized at this facility is
amongst the most efficient serving a data center in the world.

Wendel also provided commissioning services beginning at the inception of design through site wide power interruption testing. Commissioning included all mechanical, electrical power, UPS, emergency power, security, life safety, and fire protection systems.

The work included 1,200kW of data center HVAC equipment, support systems for 3-750kW backup power generation units, and site infrastructure improvement. Work in the data center was performed while all the exsisting data center equiptment remained live.
