Several of our team members in Columbus participated in COSI’s Passport to STEAM Futures program at Eastland-Fairfield Career Center and Technical Schools, helping launch the 2026 COSI Science Festival. The interactive event connected FCC juniors with hands-on STEAM experiences led by local professionals.

The Wendel team presented Fundamentals of Energy Engineering – A Day in the Life, introducing students to real-world energy and engineering concepts, including spatial awareness, building envelope performance, occupant comfort, and lighting. Students worked directly with professional tools, including a light meter, infrared camera, and Matterport camera system. Columbus Regional Office Leader and COSI Community Board member Luis Rivera Jr, along with Nicholas Potts, Matthew Potts, Nicholas Dauer, and David Varga, answered student questions about careers in energy engineering and the technology used in practice. The team’s participation was also featured on NBC-4’s evening news.

Wendel continued its involvement on May 2 at the COSI Big Science Celebration, a free community event featuring more than 100 hands-on exhibitor stations. The celebration highlighted the wide range of opportunities within STEAM education and professions and included engagement with COSI leadership and community partners.

We’re proud to support programs that inspire curiosity, expand career awareness, and reinforce the idea that science truly is for everyone.
