Wendel has an established presence in the northeast region. Wendel is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer to join our growing Environmental Engineering team. This Senior Engineer will serve as both a technical lead and project manager for medium to large scale study, design, and construction projects involving water and wastewater treatment, storage, pumping and distribution/collection systems. This position offers some flexibility in the candidate’s home location.

Responsibilities:

  • Become the trusted advisor to our established water and wastewater clients and supplement our sales team in the development and securing of new project work.
  • Diagnosing, analyzing and implementing treatment process improvements.
  • Optimization of treatment plant operation systems including: Pretreatment, Filtration, Chemical disinfection, Residuals and Energy systems.
  • Asset evaluation and related long-term capital planning.
  • Hydraulic modeling of treatment system processes and storage systems.
  • Supplementing utility staff with water and wastewater expertise in critical situations.
  • Represent the Wendel Water/Wastewater Group on a regional and national level through professional organizations, technical presentations, and key partnerships.

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or related fields is required, a Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Current PE license is required.
  • The ideal candidate has 20 plus years of experience in the water and/or wastewater discipline, however individuals seeking to leverage a broad portfolio of experience who are interested in becoming focused within the Water market will also be considered.
  • Strong management, leadership, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Willing to work outdoors in various weather at times.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be available to travel to job sites and client meetings.
  • Occasional overnight travel will be required.

Wendel continues to grow and we are looking for our next dynamic and highly motivated Energy Engineer to join our diverse and expanding team out of either our Rochester, Albany or our Williamsville offices. This position has a tremendous amount of growth potential.

Energy Engineers work on the development of comprehensive and investment grade energy audits to create various energy conservation measures (ECMs) across a variety of client sectors and facility types. This includes data collection, utility bill disaggregation and benchmarking. Engineers conduct field visits, work on energy calculations, and develop energy measure descriptions with detailed work scope packages including cost estimates and contractor pricing.

Energy Engineers also excel at report writing, creating project design documents, and the development of measurement and verification plans with contract documents. Energy Engineers assist the project management team with design, bidding, and construction of these Energy Efficiency related projects.

Qualifications: 

  • 2 to 14 years of relevant experience in technical areas (i.e., lighting, HVAC, solar, other renewables).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field is ideal.
  • Certified Energy Manager in Training (CEM IT) or other industry related certifications is ideal.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software required.
  • Building modeling experience is a big plus.
  • Hands on HVAC and commissioning/retro-commissioning experience.
  • The ability to complete multiple tasks, on multiple projects, by deadlines.
  • QA/QC of your own assigned tasks and projects.
  • Experience supporting construction activities during implementation.
  • Experience working on energy audits and or energy related construction projects.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal staff and clients.

Wendel is looking to hire an enthusiastic and highly motivated future Structural Engineer to intern for the Summer working directly with our Structural Engineering team. We are looking for an intern out of our Albany, NY office. Our internship program provides hands-on practical experience for students while potentially developing the individual to take on a full-time role with Wendel post-graduation.

Internship Purpose: 

  • Actively work on projects from concept phase to final design and through construction.
  • Collaborate and share ideas with senior level staff on those projects.
  • Develop applicable load cases to be used in the design of building systems/components.
  • Perform detailed design calculations following applicable building and material codes for steel, concrete, masonry, wood, etc.
  • Assist with the analysis and design of structural systems/components.
  • Participate in project, client and team meetings.
  • Support the team in assisting in conducting facility assessments, writing technical reports, and editing material specifications.

Requirements: 

  • Currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree at an accredited institution, with a focus on Structural Engineering.
  • Excellent PC skills. Microsoft Office software experience required.
  • Some knowledge of structural engineering software (RAM Structural Systems, RAM Elements, TEKLA Structural Designer).
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within the Civil Engineering team.
  • Ability to work on-site and travel if needed.

Hourly Pay Range: $20 – $ 24
