Our public safety design team is looking for a mid to senior level design professional that thrives in a fast paced and team focused working environment. Wendel is headquartered in Buffalo, NY, but we are flexible to a candidate’s home location.

This position is right for you if

  • Love to execute project development from concept through construction while working with other committed design professionals.
  • Are seeking to mentor entry level architects, directing them in design, production and overall coordination of the design process and technical documents.
  • Attend project and client meetings with other design professionals for projects under contract.
  • Want to grow into a senior leadership role.
  • Have a proven record of strong technical design and detailing skills.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and ADA requirements.
  • Are self-motivated and able to problem solve independently, often times working remotely.
  • Have a 4- or 5-year degree in Architecture, or a related field.
  • Have 10 -15 years of working experience in a design firm with strong design, construction document and construction administration experience, plus 5 to 8+ year’s experience in Fire and/or Police stations.
  • Are genuinely passionate about architecture.
  • Have exceptional communication and organizational skills and you thrive at working in a team environment.
  • Have knowledge of design and construction programs like Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, Etc.

Salary range

$110,000 – $140,000

Architectural Designer

We are seeking an enthusiastic Architect / Designer who thrives in a fast-paced, team-focused working environment to join our growing office in Minneapolis. Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and manage construction documents for projects in an efficient and timely manner that maximizes value to the company and the client.
  • Coordinate construction documents with engineers and other consultants.
  • Collaborate with Project Leads, Designers, and other team members.
  • Maintain architectural standards, templates, and workflows across various project types.
  • Assists in the layout of preliminary site plans, puts together presentation drawings for clients, and updates existing drawings in our portfolio.
  • Review and revise concept plans with clients.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals during construction.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate has a minimum 4- or 5-year degree in Architecture, or any degree in Drafting, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Up to 5 years of working experience in a design firm with Revit, with project experience working in Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft.
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations is a positive but not required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
