Interior Design Intern

Wendel is seeking enthusiastic Interior Design student for an in-person internship at our Richmond, VA location over the summer. We engage our interns in project work that will give them insight into the various phases of the design process within the commercial interiors industry. As an intern, you’ll have the opportunity to work on projects as a fully collaborative member of the team, from initial design studies to construction documentation. More than most firms, we provide project leadership and encourage collaboration. We frequently work hand in hand with architects, graphic designers, fabricators and other interiors specialists, many of whom are considered leaders in their respective fields.

Wendel’s award-winning internship program is structured with weekly check-in meetings amongst other interns across our 16 office locations nationwide. This will allow students to connect with one another and learn from our professionals on industry-related or advantageous career topics.

Internship Purpose

  • Work on real life projects like tenant fit outs, corporate and private development projects, and medical office layouts.
  • Actively work on projects with junior and senior interior designers and architects.
  • Collaborate with clients and designers in other offices.
  • Assist with conceptual design, field verification, finish selections, and redlines.
  • Develop a better understanding of the interior design field.

 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Interior Design an accredited institution.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Revit experience preferred
  • A student who is a self-starter, collegial, diligent, and eager to learn about the day-to-day realities of a career in architecture.
  • Strong preference for upperclassmen.
  • Ability to work on-site and travel if needed.

Hourly range

$18.00 – $20.00

Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. Hourly rate offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The rate offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.
