Bacon & Ketchum Halls Panel and Switchgear Replacement

Electrical distribution systems in Ketchum Hall and Bacon Hall were largely part of the original construction.

The switchgear and panels had exceeded their useful life and were positioned for renewal in 2018 according to Asset Works. Testing of the panels had shown that the main breakers were malfunctioning and no longer properly operated as needed in an emergency. The existing branch panels were obsolete and replacement parts were no longer available. The project needed to provide a reliable electrical system which would reduce unanticipated power outages, meet current codes and provide a safer environment.

Wendel was selected to provide the following services:

Ketchum Hall
Replace the existing 5kv switch, 300kva transformer, 500kva transformer and main distribution panel in the main electrical room.

Replace the existing 11 branch circuit panels and feeders, reusing existing conduit runs. Provide sub-metering and connection to campus control station. Provide a full ARC flash and coordination study. Trace all existing branch circuits and label provided panelboard schedules for all panels.
