Three Phase Road Rehabilitation

The Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW) undertook the effort to rehabilitate a five mile stretch of road over the course of three phases. During the preliminary design phase, Wendel provided topographic and ROW survey and mapping assessments before providing a final design report that addressed cost estimation, environmental issues, storm water mitigation and permitting. The final design incorporated intersection realignment, the replacement of 12 box culverts and one bridge. During the final design phase, Wendel coordinated with utility companies to plan for the relocation of the existing waterline, the protection of traffic during construction and to create a pavement marking plan and guide rail design. When the project began construction, the Wendel team provided construction inspection services while also taking part in analysis of the ongoing work, continually interpreting design plans and reacting to changing field conditions.
