Wendel assisted the City of Buffalo with the preparation of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), a comprehensive vision plan that focuses on the waterfront and is structured around a number of coastal management policies that reflect local concerns. Wendel’s tasks varied greatly, ranging from extensive inventory/analysis of resources, developing coastal management policies and strategies for implementing the policies to addressing development issues/opportunities, designing redevelopment scenarios and creating a brand ‘logo’ for the document and effort. We were also instrumental in gathering input from citizen groups and the general public in the development of the program policies that address public access and recreation, community character, water quality protection, flooding and erosion, habitat protection, historic and cultural resources, and economic development.
