Energy Performance Contract

Doddridge County Schools in West Virginia retained Wendel to develop an energy performance contract (EPC) that would encompass facility improvements at the Elementary, Middle and High School as well as the Board of Education Office. A Comprehensive Energy Audit was completed first in order to identify any and all potential Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) that could be included in the contract. Each prospective conservation measure was evaluated by calculating the energy savings potential, implementation cost and resulting payback calculations. Once the audit was complete, the Wendel team offered their design and construction management expertise to plan and oversee the installation of the chosen measures. The team also provided financing assistance to the district in order to reduce the capital cost of the project by facilitating the approval of First Energy’s West Virginia Utilities Business Program, winning $17,321 of funding on behalf of the client.
