Structural Engineering Services

Wendel is the structural engineer on this fast-track project being led by Empire Resorts, LP Ciminelli and JCJ Architecture. The scope of the project includes a 180,000 square foot casino floor, an 18 story hotel, a 4-level parking structure and an Event Center. The project site, located in the historic Catskill Mountains of New York State, presents a challenge to the engineering team in its significant slope. Retaining walls around the lower spaces, including the parking structure and back-of-house areas, compensate for the grade change of over 50 feet across the site. The parking garage, set to be mostly below grade, will be constructed of precast concrete, while the hotel tower and other low-rise portions of the facility will be framed in structural steel.
