Rooftop Garden Terrace

Design and layout of an expanded rooftop dining terrace. Tappo (Italian for “Cork”) is a popular Italian restaurant located in Downtown Buffalo. The central focal design feature is a custom-made outdoor “wine-rack” feature as an alternative screening element around the unsightly rooftop mechanical units. The pseudo wine-rack screen incorporates colorful empty wine bottles, which shimmer during the daytime and glow at night with appropriate backlighting. This unique and somewhat unconventional screening method also serves as a backdrop for colorful vines, which will grow throughout the wine bottles on the lattice structure.
