Since completing a Comprehensive Plan Update in 2004, Wendel has been assisting the Town of Wheatfield with implementing their Comprehensive Plan. These efforts included writing numerous zoning revisions for the town, including regulations to address cluster development, Overlay Districts, new (Commercial) Zoning Districts, planned unit developments, conservation areas, special use permit procedures, junkyards, animal boarding, campgrounds, commercial wind energy conversion systems, signage, TNB Zoning District (Traditional Neighborhood Business), TCD Zoning (Town Center District),  special events, RVs/trailers, etc. We also assisted the town with procedures for adopting these regulations, including ensuring compliance with SEQR regulations, drafting of resolutions, advising town staff and facilitation of public hearings. Other implementation activities include planning services designed to preserve open space, address stormwater regulation, and improve connectivity. Our work was performed through a Comprehensive Plan Implementation Task Force, which also utilized focus groups to get more of the community involved.
