Wendel is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work out of our growing Eau Claire, WI, Richmond, VA, Minneapolis, MN, and Williamsville, NY offices. Wendel has a growing Engineering presence, and we are seeking an experienced and hardworking Mechanical Engineer to lead, organize, manage and execute Mechanical Engineering work within our current project portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Business development and client relations.
  • Perform advanced HVAC system engineering including hydronic, airside, geothermal, and district energy plants.
  • Portfolio and project management.
  • Engineering production.
  • Provide on the job training support to junior department members.

 

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate has a consultant background and see’s the big picture.
  • 6 to 14 years of Mechanical Engineering experience, especially with air handling and distribution systems, ventilation/exhaust, hydronic, HVAC, building controls, and hot water and chilled water piping systems.
  • Firm understanding of industry standards, regulations, and codes.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • PE license is highly desired but not required.
  • Proficient with the use AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Requires minimum supervision.

Salary range

$80,000 – $145,000

Wendel is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. Salary offered will be determined based the successful candidates’ relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The salary offered will also take into consideration regional adjustment factors.

Mechanical Engineer – Public Transit Specialty

Build the facilities that keep communities moving

Join our Transit team and help design the mechanical systems and specialized equipment that keep public transportation facilities operating. You will contribute to HVAC, vehicle maintenance equipment, fueling infrastructure, and process system design for new and existing transit facilities while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary design teams. This position is open in our Williamsville, NY office.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of specialized vehicle maintenance systems, including vehicle lifts, bus washes, fueling systems, and maintenance equipment.
  • Design HVAC systems for new and existing transit facilities, including air-side and hydronic systems.
  • Design process piping systems that distribute fluids such as engine oil, coolant, grease, compressed air, and other vehicle service fluids.
  • Perform engineering calculations, equipment selection, and system layout development.
  • Prepare drawings, reports, and other design documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction-phase support.
  • Communicate with project teammates, equipment manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Contribute to multiple projects while developing technical and professional skills within a collaborative team environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 0-3 years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively within a project team.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
  • Experience with Revit design software preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical calculations, equipment selection, or technical writing preferred.
  • Engineer in Training certification or interest in pursuing professional licensure preferred.
