Senior Project/Construction Manager

Wendel is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Senior Project/Construction Manager professional to join our Construction Management team in our Eau Claire, WI office.

Responsibilities

  • Provide key, senior project leadership on Master Builder projects, where Wendel is both the Architect/Engineer and Construction Manager, from inception to completion to meet scope, schedule, quality, budget and client expectations by following Wendel’s PM/CM processes.
  • Act as primary client contact and project leader on a day-to-day basis including developing relationships with clients, stakeholders, design teams, contractors and project partners, understanding and interpreting their needs and providing a high level of client service, responsiveness and value.
  • Communicate clearly to clients and project design and construction teams in a way that is easily understood using a combination of exceptional verbal and written communication styles.
  • Work with our project site superintendents to oversee all onsite construction activities, including management and coordination of construction trades and vendors, to ensure projects are completed within time and budgetary constraints. Review and supervise construction projects for adherence to plans, drawings and specifications. Develop and maintain master construction schedules, master project budgets, provide leadership in the proactive resolution of construction related issues, timely approval of contractor applications for payment and overseeing and control of all construction scope, schedule and cost changes.
  • Be responsible for and coordinate the submittal and RFI processes, lead regular construction coordination and scheduling meetings with clients, design teams and construction teams and promptly issue meetings minutes.
  • Participate in and provide leadership in business development, marketing and branding activities including identification of new client and project opportunities, preparation of scope and fee proposals, and participation in interviews, sales calls and networking activities.
  • Participate in the operational development of construction related processes and procedures for preconstruction, procurement and construction phase activities.
  • Participate in the strategic planning and be a major contributor in the growth and development of Wendel’s Master Builder corporate strategic initiative.

 

Qualifications

  • BS Degree preferred, but not required.
  • Multi-discipline design and construction management is preferred and PMP certification, licensed professional engineer, registered architect or equivalent a plus
  • Proficient in use of Procore Construction Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project and General Construction Cost Estimating.
  • Minimum of 10 – 15 years of hands-on experience leading and managing infrastructure and/or buildings projects in a construction management, engineering, architecture or related field.
  • Candidate must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and must be willing to travel both locally and occasionally outside of our Eau Claire, WI region.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player.

Salary range

$100,000 – $140,000

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans that include scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timelines.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and will meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Execution and Monitoring:
    • Lead project teams to execute projects according to plan, managing resources, budgets, and timelines effectively.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of project management experience, preferably in civil engineering projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies (e.g., PMBOK, Agile).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheets, or similar).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with construction processes and site management is preferred but not required.
