This project allowed the County to secure $614,983 in Department of Social Services Reimbursement Funding, and $225,960 in energy grants and rebates from NYSERDA and local utilities.

Working closely with Buffalo Water personnel, Wendel completed a comprehensive examination and developed a capital improvement plan (CIP) for five facilities: Colonel Ward Pumping Station, Filtration Building, Massachusetts Avenue Pumping Station, Grover Cleveland Tank, and the Manhattan Pump Station and Tank.

Wendel assisted the Village of Lancaster in helping to improve connectivity and enhance the economic viability of the Central Business District.

With Wendel’s support, Dunkirk City Schools tapped into NYSERDA’s Clean Green Schools Initiative to fully fund a districtwide energy study. The $79,400 assessment identified energy-saving upgrades, greenhouse gas reduction opportunities, and cost-effective strategies to guide future capital planning focused on long-term performance and sustainability.

Wendel worked with the Buffalo Urban Development Corporation to develop a Placemaking Strategy for the entire downtown stretch of Ellicott Street.

Reducing energy usage and operating costs at the Empire State Plaza, a large mixed-use facility which houses New York State government offices, a convention center, and retail space.
